Why the turtle
I am Neelesh, a licensed life and health insurance advisor in Kitchener, Ontario. Clients started calling me the Turtle Guy, and it stuck, partly because of the turtle on my card, and partly because the idea fits how I work. Slow and steady. A shell that protects what is underneath. Something built to last a long time. That is insurance and long-term planning in one animal.
Who I work with
I work with families and small business owners across the Kitchener-Waterloo region, and out along the corridor from Niagara to Toronto.
Why I do this work
I came to Canada in 2023. Before that I spent years in tech, building systems for companies in banking, insurance and immigration services. I thought the work was solid ground.
Then the layoffs started. Not at one company. At all of them. Round after round, taking out people who were good at what they did, people with mortgages and kids and nothing wrong with their performance. Just numbers that needed to get smaller. I was not immune to it. Neither was anyone around me.
That changed the question I was asking. I stopped wondering how to get a better job and started wondering what actually protects a family when things go wrong. Not a job title. Not a salary. Something real.
The answer kept landing in the same place. Life insurance that pays when you cannot work. A disability policy that replaces your income if your body gives out before your mortgage does. An RRSP or TFSA growing quietly while you get on with your career. Simple things, and most newcomer families in Canada do not have them in place, because nobody ever sat down and explained why they matter.
So I got licensed. The bank hands you a chequing account and a credit card and calls that onboarding. Nobody explains the TFSA room you lose every year you wait, or what happens to your family if you cannot work next month. I wanted to be the person who explains it clearly and then helps you build the plan. My old job was making complicated systems make sense to real people. This is the same work, with your money and your family's security as the subject.
What I commit to
Questions before pitches, always. The first call is about your situation. No product pitch, no quote, no price sheet on call one.
I will tell you when I am not the right fit. If your bank already has the right product for you, or you need a fee-only CFP rather than a licensed agent, I will say so and point you there.
No cost to you, ever. The review is free. If a product makes sense and you decide to go ahead, the provider pays me, not you. You will never get an invoice from me.
A written plan either way. You leave the first review with a written summary of your top three priorities, yours to keep whether you work with me or not.
Why I work in three languages
I moved to Canada myself, so I know what it is like to arrive and rebuild everything from scratch, including your financial footing. That is a big reason I work in English, Hindi, and Telugu. A money conversation is hard enough without a language barrier on top of it.
What I help with today
Today I help with life insurance, retirement and investment planning, and RESP and education savings. I passed my RIBO general insurance exam in July 2026, so home, auto, and commercial insurance are on the way, available remotely across Ontario. The goal is simple: one advisor you can call for the whole picture, instead of five people who each know one piece.
If you want to talk, book a call or send me a note. No pressure, no jargon.
Service area and languages
Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and the wider Waterloo Region, plus the corridor from Niagara to Toronto. In person where it makes sense, remotely where it is easier for you.
Languages: English, Hindi, and Telugu.
